Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated WFH Compliance Officer to join our dynamic Financial Services team. This is a crucial 100% remote role responsible for ensuring that Commonwealth Bank operates in full adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies within the financial services industry. The successful candidate will play a vital role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating compliance risks, contributing to the bank’s ethical and regulatory integrity. Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and internal policies, assessing their impact on the business and implementing necessary adjustments.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures in line with industry best practices and regulatory guidelines.
  • Conduct regular compliance reviews and audits to identify potential areas of non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to business units on compliance matters, risk management, and regulatory interpretation.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports accurately and on time.
  • Investigate and resolve compliance-related issues, incidents, and breaches.
  • Deliver compliance training and awareness programs to employees.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including legal, risk, and operations teams, to foster a strong compliance culture.
  • Assist in responding to regulatory inquiries and examinations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Compliance Officer or in a similar compliance-related role within the financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of Australian financial services laws and regulations (e.g., Corporations Act, AML/CTF Act, Privacy Act).
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them to business operations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex compliance concepts clearly.
  • High level of integrity, ethical conduct, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and compliance management software.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CAMS, ICA Diploma in Compliance).
  • Experience with regulatory technology (RegTech) solutions.
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline.
