Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Packaging Design & Structural Intern to join our dynamic team for the summer term. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the structural design of corrugated packaging, working alongside experienced designers and engineers. You will contribute to real-world projects, from concept development to prototyping, learning the intricacies of material science, CAD software, and manufacturing processes within the corrugated industry. This role is ideal for students passionate about design, sustainability, and practical problem-solving. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior designers in the structural design and development of corrugated packaging solutions.
- Utilize CAD software (e.g., ArtiosCAD, AutoCAD) to create detailed designs and specifications.
- Prepare and assemble prototypes for testing and client presentations.
- Conduct research on new materials, design trends, and sustainable packaging innovations.
- Collaborate with sales, production, and quality control teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturing efficiency.
- Participate in design review meetings, providing input and learning from feedback.
- Document design processes and project progress accurately.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program related to Industrial Design, Packaging Science, Engineering, or a similar field.
- Basic understanding of design principles and structural integrity.
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., ArtiosCAD, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Previous experience with corrugated materials or packaging a plus, but not required.
- A portfolio showcasing design projects (academic or personal).
