Job Description

Are you passionate about making a genuine difference in people’s lives? UnitingCare Tasmania is seeking a compassionate and reliable Community Care Offsider to join our dedicated team on a part-time day roster. In this vital role, you will provide essential in-home support to our clients in Sandy Bay and surrounding areas, enabling them to maintain their independence and enhance their quality of life. This is an entry-level position where full training will be provided, making it an ideal opportunity for individuals looking to start a rewarding career in community services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with personal care needs, including showering, dressing, and grooming, with dignity and respect.
  • Support clients with light household tasks, meal preparation, and grocery shopping.
  • Provide companionship and engage in social activities to promote well-being and reduce isolation.
  • Assist with medication reminders and appointments as required.
  • Monitor and report any changes in a client's health, behavior, or living environment to the care coordinator.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for clients in their homes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of care provided.

Required Skills

  • Genuine empathy, patience, and a caring attitude.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and strong time management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Valid Australian Driver's License and access to a reliable, insured vehicle.
  • Willingness to undertake a National Police Check and Working with Vulnerable People check.
  • Willingness to learn and commit to ongoing training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
  • Working towards or holding a Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care/Disability).
