Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive HR Case Officer to join our team, focusing on critical recruitment and policy functions within a dynamic government environment. This role is essential in ensuring fair, transparent, and efficient HR processes, providing expert advice and support to managers and employees across various government agencies. You will be instrumental in managing HR cases, interpreting complex policy guidelines, and contributing to best-practice recruitment strategies to attract and retain top talent for Tasmania’s public service. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and guidance on HR policy, procedures, and industrial relations matters to managers and employees.
  • Manage and resolve a diverse range of HR cases, including performance management, disciplinary matters, grievances, and workplace investigations.
  • Support and coordinate end-to-end recruitment processes, from job advertisement development to onboarding, ensuring compliance with government guidelines.
  • Interpret and apply relevant legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements to ensure fair and consistent HR practices.
  • Contribute to the review and development of HR policies and procedures to ensure they are current, effective, and compliant.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, correspondence, and documentation related to HR cases and recruitment activities.
  • Collaborate with HR business partners and other stakeholders to implement HR initiatives and projects.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in an HR advisory or case management role, preferably within a large organisation.
  • Sound knowledge of Australian employment law, industrial relations principles, and HR best practices.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Proficiency in using HR information systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
  • Experience working within a government or public sector environment.
  • Familiarity with Tasmanian Government HR policies and procedures.
