Job Description
We are seeking a talented and passionate Urban Designer / Masterplanner to join our dynamic team in Gaithersburg, MD. This pivotal role involves contributing to large-scale, complex urban planning and design projects, from conceptualization through to detailed master planning. You will work on diverse projects ranging from new communities and district plans to waterfront developments and public realm strategies, both domestically and internationally. This position is ideal for a creative individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to shape the future of urban landscapes. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the development of urban design and master planning concepts and strategies.
- Prepare high-quality design presentations, reports, and graphic materials.
- Conduct site analysis, research, and data gathering to inform design decisions.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including architects, landscape architects, and civil engineers.
- Present design concepts to clients, stakeholders, and community groups.
- Develop and manage project schedules and deliverables to ensure timely completion.
- Stay abreast of current trends and innovations in urban design and master planning.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), and SketchUp.
- Strong graphic communication and visualization skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of urban design principles, sustainability, and land use planning.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Design, City Planning, Landscape Architecture, or Architecture.
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in urban design or master planning.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS).
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software (e.g., Rhino, V-Ray).
- Professional licensure or certification (e.g., AICP, LEED AP).
- Experience with international projects.
