Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment / Plant Manager to lead operations at our manufacturing facility in Waterloo, Iowa. This critical role involves overseeing the entire plant’s heavy equipment fleet, ensuring optimal performance, maintenance, safety, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a proven track record in industrial operations and equipment management. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all daily plant operations related to heavy equipment, including usage, maintenance, and overall facility management.
- Lead, train, and mentor a team of plant personnel, including technicians, operators, and supervisors, fostering a culture of safety and excellence.
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for all heavy equipment to minimize downtime and extend asset lifespan.
- Ensure strict adherence to all company safety protocols, environmental regulations, and industry standards (e.g., OSHA).
- Analyze plant performance metrics, identify areas for operational improvement, and implement effective solutions to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Manage operational budgets, control costs related to equipment, parts, and labor, and optimize resource allocation.
- Collaborate closely with production, supply chain, and engineering departments to ensure seamless operations and meet strategic production goals.
- Diagnose and resolve complex operational and mechanical issues promptly to maintain continuous operation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through methodologies like Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma to optimize processes.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in heavy equipment management, plant operations, or a similar industrial leadership role.
- Demonstrated strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of heavy equipment mechanics, operations, maintenance best practices, and troubleshooting.
- Thorough understanding of industrial safety standards, environmental regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Proven ability in budget management, cost control, and strategic operational planning.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities within a demanding industrial environment.
- Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or other relevant operational software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical), Operations Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
- Certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, PMP, or other relevant process improvement methodologies.
- Experience specifically within the agricultural or construction equipment manufacturing industry.
- Prior experience managing large-scale manufacturing or industrial plants with significant heavy equipment assets.
