The City of Council Bluffs Victim Services Division is seeking a dedicated and empathetic individual to join our team as an Entry-Level Victim Advocate. You will work directly with victims of crime, offering support, resources, and guidance through the justice system. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide emotional support and crisis intervention to victims of crime.
  • Assist victims in understanding their rights and navigating the criminal justice system.
  • Connect victims with essential community resources, including counseling, housing, and financial assistance.
  • Accompany victims to court proceedings, law enforcement interviews, and other appointments as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of services provided.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutors, and other social service agencies.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.
  • Advocate for victim safety and well-being within legal and community frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some college coursework in social work, psychology, criminal justice, or a related field.
  • Previous volunteer experience in a support role or community service.
  • Bilingual fluency (especially Spanish/English) is a significant plus.
  • Understanding of basic legal terminology or the justice system.
