Job Description
Are you a creative individual with a passion for visual storytelling and a keen interest in motion graphics? S4C is looking for a Junior Motion Graphics Designer to join our dynamic creative team in Swansea. This is an exceptional entry-level opportunity for someone eager to start their career in design and animation, with no prior professional experience required. You will receive comprehensive training and mentorship, learning from experienced designers and contributing to exciting projects that bring Welsh content to life. We’re seeking someone with a foundational understanding of design principles, a strong desire to learn, and a proactive attitude.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior motion graphics designers in the creation of animations, titles, and visual effects for broadcast and digital platforms.
- Learn and apply best practices in motion graphics software and design techniques.
- Support the design team in preparing assets and elements for animation projects.
- Contribute creative ideas during brainstorming sessions for new projects and campaigns.
- Ensure all motion graphics adhere to S4C's brand guidelines and quality standards.
- Maintain an organised library of assets and project files.
- Engage in continuous learning and skill development in motion graphics and related design fields.
Required Skills
- A strong passion for motion graphics and animation.
- Foundational understanding of design principles (e.g., typography, colour theory, composition).
- Basic familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator (even from personal projects or academic work).
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new software and workflows.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.
- Ability to take constructive feedback and iterate on designs.
Preferred Qualifications
- A relevant diploma or degree in Graphic Design, Animation, Film, or a related creative field (or equivalent self-taught knowledge).
- A portfolio demonstrating personal projects, student work, or any creative visual work (motion or static).
