Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Aerospace Engineer to join our dynamic team in Derby. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge aerospace projects, contributing to the design, development, and improvement of gas turbine engines and related systems. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and safety of our products, working within a collaborative environment that fosters innovation and professional growth. You will be instrumental in solving complex engineering challenges, applying advanced analytical techniques, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to bring revolutionary concepts to fruition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and optimize components and systems for aerospace engines, ensuring adherence to performance, weight, cost, and reliability targets.
  • Conduct detailed stress, thermal, vibration, and fluid dynamics analysis using advanced simulation tools (e.g., FEM, CFD).
  • Develop and validate engineering models, test plans, and procedures.
  • Support the full product lifecycle from conceptual design through to manufacturing and in-service support.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, and supply chain.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience with CAD software (e.g., CATIA, NX) and CAE tools (e.g., ABAQUS, ANSYS).
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, stress analysis, and materials science.
  • Demonstrable experience in gas turbine engine design or analysis.
  • Proficiency in technical report writing and presentation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
  • Experience with propulsion system integration or aircraft performance analysis.
  • Knowledge of aerospace certification processes (e.g., EASA, FAA).
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or MATLAB for engineering applications.
