Job Description
WSP USA is seeking a talented and motivated Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer to join our dynamic team in Palm Bay, FL. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a diverse range of building and infrastructure projects, ensuring the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of plumbing and fire protection systems. You will be responsible for the design, analysis, and implementation of complex plumbing and fire protection systems from conceptual design through construction administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform engineering calculations and analyses for plumbing and fire protection systems.
- Design sanitary waste and vent, storm water, domestic water, and specialized plumbing systems.
- Design fire sprinkler, standpipe, and special hazard fire suppression systems.
- Prepare construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Coordinate with architects, other engineering disciplines, and project stakeholders.
- Conduct site visits and participate in construction administration activities.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Review submittals and shop drawings for technical accuracy and compliance.
- Participate in project meetings and maintain effective communication with the project team.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in plumbing and fire protection system design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP.
- Strong understanding of building codes (e.g., IBC, IMC, IPC, NFPA).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Certified in Plumbing Design (CPD) or Fire Protection (CFPS) certifications.
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Fire Protection Engineering.
- Experience with hydraulic calculation software for fire suppression systems (e.g., FHC).
- Familiarity with sustainable design practices and LEED certification requirements.
