Job Description

Embark on a rewarding journey as an Animal Rescue & Conservation Intern at Mountain Valley Wildlife Preserve. This entry-level internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in wildlife care, rehabilitation, and conservation practices. You will work alongside experienced wildlife professionals, learning critical skills in animal husbandry, medical support, and environmental stewardship. This program is ideal for individuals passionate about wildlife and conservation who are eager to contribute to meaningful work and develop their career in this vital field. Full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily feeding and cleaning of animal enclosures.
  • Monitor animal behavior and report any changes to senior staff.
  • Aid in the rehabilitation process, including preparing specialized diets and administering medications under supervision.
  • Participate in habitat maintenance and restoration projects.
  • Support educational programs and visitor engagement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records of animal care and facility operations.
  • Learn and adhere to all safety protocols and animal handling procedures.

Required Skills

  • Strong passion for wildlife conservation and animal welfare.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Physical stamina to perform demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Reliable and punctual.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant program (e.g., Biology, Zoology, Environmental Science, Veterinary Technology).
  • Prior volunteer experience with animals or environmental organizations.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to commit to a minimum of 3-6 months.
