Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Site Hand to join our civil construction team in Tuggeranong, Canberra. This role is crucial for supporting heavy machinery operations on various civil projects, including road construction, utilities, and earthworks. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring site safety, efficiency, and project progression. Key Responsibilities
- Assist heavy machinery operators with site preparation, trenching, and backfilling activities.
- Perform manual labouring tasks, including digging, shovelling, and raking.
- Spot and guide heavy machinery effectively and safely.
- Support the installation of civil infrastructure components such as pipes, conduits, and drains.
- Load and unload materials and equipment as required.
- Maintain a clean and organised worksite, removing debris and ensuring clear access.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
- Conduct pre-start checks on equipment and tools.
- Participate in daily toolbox talks and safety briefings.
Required Skills
- Construction White Card (or ability to obtain one prior to employment)
- Strong understanding and commitment to site safety procedures.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work within a team.
- Reliable transport and punctuality.
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working on civil construction sites.
- Experience spotting or guiding heavy machinery.
- First Aid certification.
- Manual Driver's License.
