Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate English / ESL Teacher to join our esteemed faculty in Barrie, Ontario. This is a full-time opportunity for educators committed to fostering language proficiency and cultural understanding. We are pleased to offer support for LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) and CoS (Certificate of Sponsorship) for qualified international candidates, demonstrating our commitment to attracting global talent. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective English language lessons to diverse groups of adult learners, ranging from beginner to advanced levels. You will play a crucial role in helping our students build confidence, improve communication skills, and integrate successfully into an English-speaking environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver dynamic and interactive ESL lessons in accordance with our curriculum guidelines.
- Assess student progress regularly through quizzes, tests, and active participation, providing constructive feedback.
- Create a positive and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning for students from various cultural backgrounds.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and grades.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development workshops, and school events.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students.
- Provide guidance and support to students regarding their language learning journey and cultural adaptation.
Required Skills
- Native or near-native English proficiency
- TESOL, CELTA, or equivalent recognized ESL teaching certification
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Linguistics, English, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching ESL to adult learners
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication abilities
- Proficiency in using various teaching technologies and platforms
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in TESOL or a related field
- Experience teaching specific English proficiency exam preparation courses (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL)
- Proficiency in a second language, particularly one common among our student population
- Experience with online teaching methodologies and blended learning environments
