Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Biology Teacher to join our enthusiastic Science department. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging Biology lessons to students across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially 5. You will play a crucial role in fostering scientific curiosity, promoting a deep understanding of biological concepts, and helping students achieve their full academic potential. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and challenging Biology lessons to students aged 11-18.
  • Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students.
  • Maintain a safe and stimulating learning environment.
  • Contribute to the development of the Biology curriculum and teaching materials.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, school events, and professional development activities.
  • Provide academic and pastoral support to students.
  • Utilise a variety of teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and enhance the overall educational experience.

Required Skills

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in Biology or a related scientific field.
  • Demonstrable experience teaching Biology at secondary school level (including NQT placements).
  • Excellent classroom management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching A-Level Biology.
  • Familiarity with the UK National Curriculum and examination boards.
  • Participation in relevant professional development courses.
  • Ability to contribute to extra-curricular science clubs or activities.
