Job Description
Join the compassionate team at Hobart Feline Haven as a Cattery Attendant. This casual role offers flexible day work, perfect for someone with a genuine love for cats and a desire to contribute to their well-being. You will be responsible for the daily care, feeding, and cleanliness of our cattery, ensuring all cats receive the highest standard of attention and a comfortable stay. Full training will be provided to the successful candidate, making this an ideal opportunity for those new to animal care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily feeding and watering of all cats according to specific dietary requirements.
- Clean and sanitize litter trays, cat enclosures, and common cattery areas meticulously.
- Monitor cat health and behavior, promptly reporting any concerns or changes to management.
- Provide enrichment and gentle, positive interaction with all feline residents.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the cattery premises.
- Administer medications as directed by management (after receiving appropriate training).
- Assist with the check-ins and check-outs of boarding cats, ensuring a smooth process.
Required Skills
- Genuine love, empathy, and respect for animals, especially cats.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to meticulously follow instructions and health protocols.
- Physical capability to perform cleaning and animal handling tasks, including lifting.
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure thorough care and cleanliness.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a small, dedicated team.
- No prior professional cattery experience required; full training will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in animal care, whether volunteer or professional.
- Basic understanding of feline behavior and welfare.
- Animal first aid certification or a willingness to obtain one.
- Valid driver's license.
