Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Civil Engineer to join our dynamic team in St. Thomas. This pivotal role involves leading complex infrastructure projects from conceptualization through completion, ensuring adherence to the highest engineering standards and local regulations. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the design, analysis, and management of various civil engineering projects critical to the development and resilience of the US Virgin Islands. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and analysis of civil engineering projects, including site development, water/wastewater systems, stormwater management, and transportation infrastructure.
- Manage project teams, budgets, and schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
- Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and prepare detailed engineering reports and specifications.
- Oversee the preparation of construction documents, including plans, profiles, and cross-sections.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Perform complex calculations and modeling to support design decisions.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
- Ensure all designs comply with local, federal, and international engineering standards and regulations.
- Participate in client meetings and presentations, representing the company's technical capabilities.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in civil engineering design and project management.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, StormCAD, WaterCAD, or similar design software.
- Strong understanding of land development, hydrology, hydraulics, and structural engineering principles.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Experience with local permitting processes and regulatory compliance (e.g., EPA, USACE).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Experience working on island or coastal infrastructure projects.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Familiarity with FIDIC contracts or similar international project frameworks.
- Experience with climate resilience and sustainable design practices.
