Job Description
Sobeys Inc. is seeking reliable and energetic individuals to join our warehouse team as Delivery Van Unloaders for morning shifts in Marystown, NL. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe unloading of delivery vans and trucks, moving merchandise from vehicles to designated areas on the warehouse dock. This is a physically demanding yet rewarding position that plays a vital part in our supply chain, ensuring our stores are stocked with the products our customers love. We are looking for individuals who are punctual, safety-conscious, and work well in a team setting. Full training will be provided for candidates eager to learn and contribute.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently unload delivery vans and trucks containing various merchandise.
- Sort and stage incoming products according to warehouse procedures.
- Move merchandise to designated storage areas using appropriate equipment (e.g., hand trucks, pallet jacks, after training).
- Verify incoming shipments against delivery manifests for accuracy.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment on the warehouse dock.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including proper lifting techniques.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding incoming deliveries and any discrepancies.
- Assist with other warehouse duties as required to support operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects repeatedly (up to 50 lbs).
- Physical stamina and endurance for standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
- Reliability and punctuality for morning shifts.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Strong work ethic and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Basic literacy for reading labels and manifests.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, labour, or physically demanding role is an asset but not required.
- Familiarity with warehouse safety protocols.
- Experience operating manual pallet jacks or other material handling equipment.
