Job Description
Join EcoTrek Environmental Consulting as an Environmental Impact Research Assistant. This role offers a dynamic blend of office-based research and hands-on field work, contributing to critical environmental assessment projects. You will support senior consultants in data collection, analysis, and report preparation, playing a vital part in understanding and mitigating environmental impacts. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting environmental site assessments, including data collection and sample retrieval in the field.
- Perform literature reviews, data entry, and preliminary data analysis for environmental impact reports.
- Support the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and proposals.
- Operate and maintain field equipment for environmental monitoring (e.g., water quality meters, GPS devices).
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations during all field activities.
- Collaborate with project managers and senior scientists on various environmental projects.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Geography, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in environmental research and conservation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation for field work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (internship or volunteer) in environmental field work or lab work.
- Familiarity with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS).
- Basic understanding of relevant environmental regulations in Ontario.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
