Job Description
Join Purolator as a Drivers Mate / Porter and become an essential part of our delivery team in Elliot Lake! This entry-level position is perfect for reliable and physically capable individuals looking for stable full-time work with weekly pay. You will assist our drivers with loading, unloading, and delivering a variety of packages and goods to businesses and residences throughout the Elliot Lake area. Early starts mean you’ll be an integral part of ensuring timely and efficient deliveries. Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity to start a career in logistics.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist drivers with the safe and efficient loading and unloading of packages and freight onto and off delivery vehicles.
- Accurately sort and scan packages, ensuring they are prepared for delivery according to route schedules.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, interacting professionally with recipients.
- Navigate routes with drivers, assisting with directions and finding delivery locations.
- Ensure packages are handled with care to prevent damage during transit and delivery.
- Follow all safety protocols and company procedures at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the delivery vehicle and work area.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, dispatch, and customers regarding delivery status or issues.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly throughout a shift.
- Excellent physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for reading manifests and checking addresses.
- A valid G class driver's license (or equivalent) is preferred but not required for this specific role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, labor, or delivery support role.
- Familiarity with the Elliot Lake area.
- Positive attitude and a willingness to learn and adapt.
