Job Description
We are seeking a strong and reliable Furniture Delivery Porter (Mate) to join our dynamic delivery team. In this physically demanding role, you will be responsible for assisting our Lead Drivers with the safe and efficient transportation and delivery of furniture and appliances to customer homes and businesses throughout the Gaspé region. This is a hands-on position that requires heavy lifting, excellent teamwork, and a customer-focused attitude. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Driver with loading and unloading furniture, appliances, and other merchandise onto and off delivery trucks.
- Safely and carefully carry heavy and bulky items into customer homes, navigating stairs, doorways, and tight spaces without damage.
- Unpack and assemble basic furniture items in customer homes as required.
- Inspect items for damage and accurately record any discrepancies before and after delivery.
- Provide friendly and professional customer service, ensuring a positive delivery experience.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies during deliveries and in the warehouse.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in the delivery truck and at customer sites.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the delivery operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to consistently lift and move heavy and bulky items (up to 75 lbs individually, more with assistance).
- Strong physical stamina and endurance for a demanding role.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
- Customer-service oriented with a positive attitude.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a delivery, moving, or warehousing role.
- Experience with basic furniture assembly.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license (not required for Porter role but a plus).
