Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and meticulous Medical Sample Courier to join our team in Weston-super-Mare. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the safe, secure, and timely transport of medical samples between hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and other designated locations within the specified region. A company vehicle will be provided for all work-related duties. Your attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean driving record are paramount to ensure the integrity of samples and the efficiency of our service. Full training on handling medical samples and specific protocols will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and deliver medical samples (e.g., blood, urine, tissue) in a timely and efficient manner according to established routes and schedules.
- Ensure the secure and temperature-controlled transport of all samples, adhering strictly to health and safety regulations and handling protocols.
- Operate and maintain a company-provided vehicle responsibly, conducting daily pre-trip inspections and reporting any issues.
- Maintain accurate records of collections, deliveries, and any incidents using provided tools and systems.
- Communicate effectively with medical staff, laboratory personnel, and dispatch regarding collection and delivery statuses.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safe driving practices, upholding a clean driving record.
- Represent DX Group professionally at all times.
- Assist with basic vehicle cleaning and organization as required.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 12 months driving experience with a full, clean UK driving license.
- A demonstrable clean driving record with no recent endorsements or penalty points.
- Ability to lift and carry moderate weights (e.g., cool boxes, specimen containers).
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to ensure timely collections and deliveries.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with the Weston-super-Mare area and surrounding regions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a courier or delivery role, especially within a medical or healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology or basic understanding of sample integrity requirements.
- Basic First Aid certification.
