Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Online Forum Community Guide to join our remote team. This role is crucial in maintaining a positive, engaging, and supportive environment within our online forums, which are vital hubs for our users to connect, share knowledge, and seek assistance. You will be responsible for moderating discussions, enforcing community guidelines, and ensuring a constructive experience for all participants, with a focus on weekend and evening shifts to cover peak activity times.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively monitor Shopify's online forums for new posts, discussions, and user-generated content.
- Respond to user inquiries, provide guidance, and offer solutions to common issues or direct users to appropriate resources.
- Enforce community guidelines and policies consistently and fairly, addressing violations through private messaging or public intervention as needed.
- Identify and escalate critical or sensitive issues to relevant internal teams (e.g., support, trust & safety, product) in a timely manner.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging positive interactions and constructive dialogue among community members.
- Help organize and facilitate online discussions, events, or initiatives to boost community engagement.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of community guidelines, moderation strategies, and best practices.
- Provide constructive feedback and insights on user trends and forum activity to improve the overall user experience.
- Work independently and collaboratively with a remote team to ensure continuous forum coverage, specifically during weekend and evening shifts.
Required Skills
- Excellent written communication skills with a friendly, professional, and clear tone.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a natural ability to empathize with diverse user needs and perspectives.
- Proven problem-solving abilities and a calm, rational approach to conflict resolution.
- Familiarity with online forum platforms and community management best practices.

- Comfort and availability to work non-traditional hours, including weekends and evenings, as part of a scheduled shift pattern.
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive user information or community issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in online community moderation, customer support, or a related field.
- Experience with CRM software and help desk ticketing systems.
- Fluency in additional languages, particularly French, would be an asset.
- A degree or diploma in Communications, Marketing, English, or a related field.
