FYidoctors in Matane is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Optometry Technician Trainee. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity for someone eager to learn the fundamentals of optometric care and patient support. We provide comprehensive, hands-on training to equip you with all the skills necessary to perform essential eye tests and assist our optometrists. Key Responsibilities
- Undergo comprehensive training on all aspects of optometry technician duties.
- Learn and perform pre-testing procedures, including auto-refraction, visual field screening, and tonometry, as directed.
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure all equipment is clean and functional.
- Assist the Optometrist during eye examinations, including charting and patient flow management.
- Educate patients on proper contact lens care, insertion, and removal techniques.
- Maintain patient records with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Provide exceptional customer service, answering patient questions and ensuring a comfortable experience.
- Assist with scheduling appointments and managing patient flow.
- Adhere to all clinic policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
Required Skills
- No prior experience in optometry or healthcare is required – full training will be provided.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A strong desire to learn and develop new skills.
- Empathetic and patient-focused approach.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a customer service role.
- Fluency in French (asset for local patient interaction).
