Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Packaging Machinery Technician to join our dynamic team in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide range of automated packaging equipment. Your expertise will ensure the continuous and efficient operation of our production lines, minimizing downtime and upholding our high standards of quality and productivity. This is an on-site position vital to our manufacturing success, and relocation assistance is provided for eligible candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on packaging machinery, including fillers, cappers, labelers, case packers, and palletizers.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on automated production lines.
- Execute timely repairs and adjustments to ensure optimal machine performance and product quality.
- Install and commission new packaging equipment, assisting with setup and calibration.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify potential problems and implement corrective actions proactively.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and spare parts inventory.
- Collaborate with production, quality assurance, and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and company policies.
- Provide technical training and support to production operators as needed.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Packaging Machinery Technician or in a similar industrial maintenance role (e.g., Industrial Electrician, Maintenance Mechanic).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in troubleshooting complex machinery.
- Solid understanding of electrical systems, motor controls, PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), and sensor technology.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, as production demands require.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or vocational training in Industrial Maintenance, Electro-Mechanical Technology, or a related field.
- Specific experience with packaging equipment from manufacturers like Krones, KHS, Bosch, or Tetra Pak.
- PLC programming and diagnostic experience (e.g., Rockwell Automation, Siemens).
- Welding and fabrication skills.
- LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) certification.
- Experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment.
