Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Sociolinguistics & Dialectology Research Intern to join our dynamic research team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a keen interest in language variation, social contexts of language use, and regional dialects to gain practical experience in an academic research setting. This entry-level internship is designed to provide hands-on training and mentorship, allowing you to contribute to ongoing projects while developing essential research skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with data collection, including recording and transcribing speech samples.
- Support the analysis of linguistic data, identifying patterns related to social factors and geographical distribution.
- Conduct literature reviews on specific topics within sociolinguistics and dialectology.
- Organize and maintain research databases and archives.
- Prepare research materials and presentations.
- Collaborate with senior researchers and faculty members on various project tasks.
- Attend and contribute to team meetings and discussions.
Required Skills
- Strong academic interest in linguistics, sociolinguistics, or dialectology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel).

Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or postgraduate degree program in Linguistics, English Language, Sociology, Anthropology, or a related field.
- Familiarity with qualitative or quantitative research methods is a plus.
- Experience with transcription software is beneficial but not required.
