Job Description

We are seeking highly skilled and dedicated Bilingual Telephonic Interpreters to join our 100% remote team. This is a crucial role for individuals passionate about facilitating clear and accurate communication between non-English speaking individuals and English-speaking professionals across various industries. As a Telephonic Interpreter, you will work from the comfort of your home, providing vital language support over the phone. You will handle a high volume of calls, ensuring precise interpretation while maintaining strict confidentiality and adherence to ethical guidelines. Full training on our systems and specific industry terminology will be provided, making this a great opportunity for those with foundational bilingual skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and complete interpretation services between English and at least one other language (as specified by your bilingual fluency).
  • Adhere to all interpreter ethics, including strict confidentiality, impartiality, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Manage call flow efficiently and professionally, ensuring timely service delivery.
  • Clearly convey concepts, nuances, and information between all parties involved in a conversation.
  • Maintain a professional, quiet, and distraction-free home office environment conducive to telephonic interpreting.
  • Utilize internal systems and tools for call management, documentation, and scheduling.
  • Continuously improve linguistic and interpreting skills through ongoing self-study and company-provided resources.

Required Skills

  • Native-level fluency in English and at least one other language (written and spoken).
  • Excellent active listening, retention, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to remain neutral, objective, and unbiased in all interpreting situations.
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems and comfortable using phone communication platforms.
  • Access to a reliable, high-speed internet connection and a quiet, professional workspace at home.
  • Strong ethical compass and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (even informal) in telephonic or on-site interpreting.
  • Certification from a recognized interpreting body (e.g., CMI, CCHI) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with medical, legal, or technical terminology.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in linguistics, translation, communication, or a related field.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to different subject matters and communication styles.
