Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and develop individualized therapy plans for children and young people with speech, language, and communication needs.
  • Deliver direct and indirect speech and language therapy interventions in a school setting, both individually and in group sessions.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to integrate therapy goals into the curriculum and home environment.
  • Provide training and advice to school staff on supporting students' communication development.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, adhering to professional standards and safeguarding policies.
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of school-wide communication strategies.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and educational reviews.

Required Skills

  • Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
  • Eligibility for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the UK.
  • Strong clinical skills in assessment and intervention for paediatric speech, language, and communication needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children and young people.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working as a Speech & Language Therapist in an educational setting.
  • Experience with specific therapeutic approaches (e.g., PECS, Makaton, Cued Speech).
  • Understanding of the UK education system and SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) frameworks.
  • Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the local community (desirable but not essential).
