Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Motorsport Engineering Intern to join our advanced engineering team in Marystown. This is an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the design, development, and optimization of high-performance powersports vehicles, contributing directly to projects that push the limits of speed and agility. You will work alongside experienced engineers, contributing to real-world racing and performance vehicle projects, learning about vehicle dynamics, component design, material selection, and data analysis in a competitive environment. This entry-level position is perfect for an individual with zero experience seeking to kick-start their career in motorsport engineering, with full training provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the design and analysis of vehicle components using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA).
- Support testing activities, including data acquisition and analysis from track or dyno sessions.
- Conduct research on new technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes relevant to powersports and motorsport applications.
- Help prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for engineering projects.
- Collaborate with senior engineers on vehicle performance optimization and problem-solving.
- Support prototyping and assembly of specialized components and test rigs.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions for innovative solutions.
Required Skills
- Strong foundational understanding of engineering principles (mechanics, materials, thermodynamics).
- Basic familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of initiative, curiosity, and a strong desire to learn.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Passion for motorsport, automotive, or powersports engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Motorsport Engineering, or a related field.
- Previous participation in collegiate racing teams (e.g., Formula SAE, Baja SAE) or personal engineering projects.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle dynamics and suspension systems.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python) is a plus.
- Experience with manufacturing processes such as 3D printing or CNC machining.
