Job Description
Are you passionate about pet health and nutrition? Do you love connecting with pet parents and guiding them to make the best choices for their furry, scaly, or feathered friends? Petco is looking for a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Pet Food Store Nutritional Advisor to join our Temecula team. In this role, you will be the go-to expert for all things pet nutrition, providing personalized advice, recommending premium products, and ensuring every pet parent leaves with confidence and the right solutions for their beloved companions. You will play a crucial part in promoting pet wellness and driving sales of our high-quality pet food and nutritional supplements.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and engage pet parents, understanding their pets' unique nutritional needs and dietary preferences.
- Provide expert advice on a wide range of pet food products, supplements, and feeding regimens.
- Educate customers on the benefits of various ingredients, brands, and specialized diets (e.g., grain-free, limited ingredient, raw).
- Assist pet parents in selecting the most appropriate food and nutritional products tailored to their pet's age, breed, health conditions, and lifestyle.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of current pet nutrition trends, product knowledge, and competitor offerings.
- Effectively communicate product features, benefits, and value propositions to drive sales and achieve store targets.
- Ensure store shelves are well-stocked, organized, and visually appealing, with accurate pricing and signage.
- Process sales transactions accurately using our point-of-sale system.
- Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and returns with professionalism and a problem-solving approach.
- Support overall store operations, including inventory management, cleaning, and merchandising.
- Actively participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance product knowledge and sales skills.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 6 months experience in retail sales, customer service, or a related field.
- Genuine passion for animals and a basic understanding of pet care.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Basic computer proficiency for point-of-sale systems.
- Ability to lift and move merchandise up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a pet store, animal shelter, or veterinary clinic.
- Knowledge of various pet food brands, ingredients, and nutritional principles.
- Certification in pet nutrition or a related field.
- Proven ability to achieve sales goals and targets.
- Experience with inventory management and merchandising.
