Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and organised Events Logistics Assistant to join the Brisbane City Council’s dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the successful execution of various public sector events, ranging from community festivals and cultural celebrations to official ceremonies and public consultations. You will support the events team by managing logistics, coordinating resources, and ensuring smooth operations, contributing directly to enriching the lives of Brisbane residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and coordination of event logistics, including venue setup, equipment hire, and supplier management.
  • Manage event inventory, ensuring all necessary materials and supplies are available and accounted for.
  • Liaise with internal departments, external vendors, and community groups to facilitate event requirements.
  • Prepare event documentation, schedules, and reports.
  • Provide on-site support during events, including problem-solving and operational assistance.
  • Handle administrative tasks related to events, such as processing invoices and managing communications.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, accessibility, and council policies during event execution.

Required Skills

  • Proven organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in events coordination, administration, or logistics support.
  • A diploma or certificate in Event Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of local government operations and community engagement processes.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
