Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Dermatology Clinic Assistant to join our fast-paced specialist care team at Cleveland Clinic’s main campus in Cleveland, OH. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our dermatology clinic, providing essential support to physicians and nurses, and enhancing the patient experience. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, possess excellent organizational skills, and have a passion for patient care. You will be an integral part of a team dedicated to providing cutting-edge dermatological treatments and compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare examination rooms, ensuring they are clean, stocked, and ready for patient visits.
- Escort patients to examination rooms, take vital signs, and accurately document patient medical history and chief complaints.
- Assist dermatologists with various procedures, including biopsies, excisions, and cosmetic treatments, maintaining a sterile environment.
- Manage patient flow efficiently, ensuring appointments run on schedule and wait times are minimized.
- Provide patients with pre- and post-procedure instructions and answer non-medical questions.
- Handle patient inquiries, schedule follow-up appointments, and manage patient records with utmost confidentiality.
- Sterilize instruments and maintain equipment in accordance with clinic protocols and safety standards.
- Process patient prescriptions, referrals, and lab requisitions as directed by the physician.
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and alert management when reordering is necessary.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a medical office, clinic, or hospital setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Basic medical terminology knowledge
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Empathy and a compassionate approach to patient care
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical Assistant certification (CMA/RMA)
- Experience specifically in a dermatology or specialty clinic
- Familiarity with EPIC EHR system
- Basic life support (BLS) certification
