Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Student Legal Intern to join our team in Gold Coast. This internship offers a unique opportunity for current law students to gain practical experience in legal research, analysis, and drafting within a supportive firm environment. You will work closely with experienced solicitors, contributing to real cases and developing foundational legal skills. Full training and guidance will be provided, making this an ideal role for someone with no prior professional experience looking to kickstart their legal career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research on various topics, statutes, and case law.
  • Assist in drafting legal documents, including memos, briefs, and client correspondence.
  • Review and summarize legal documents and factual information.
  • Prepare bundles and court documents under supervision.
  • Support solicitors with administrative tasks and case management.
  • Attend client meetings, court hearings, and depositions when appropriate, for observational learning.
  • Maintain organized case files and research materials.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Law degree program (LLB or JD).
  • Strong academic record, demonstrating analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in legal research platforms (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw) or willingness to learn.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an office environment (not necessarily legal).
  • Familiarity with Australian legal system and common law principles.
  • Completion of core law units related to contracts, torts, or property law.
  • Commitment to a minimum of 2-3 days per week availability.
