Job Description
Bright Horizons is seeking a dedicated and responsible After School Nanny to provide exceptional care for school-aged children in the Albany, NY area. This part-time position involves afternoon shifts, typically from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday, though exact hours may vary slightly based on family needs. As an After School Nanny, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of the children, engaging them in educational and recreational activities, and providing support during their after-school routine. This is a crucial role for families needing reliable and caring support during the critical after-school hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Pick up children from school or bus stop safely and on time.
- Prepare and serve nutritious after-school snacks.
- Supervise and assist with homework completion.
- Plan and engage children in age-appropriate activities, including creative play, outdoor activities, and educational games.
- Ensure a safe and stimulating environment for the children.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding children's daily activities and any observations.
- Perform light tidying up related to children's activities.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in childcare, particularly with school-aged children (formal or informal).
- Reliable, punctual, and highly responsible.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, creativity, and a genuine love for working with children.
- Ability to maintain a safe and nurturing environment.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (required for school pickups).
- Willingness to obtain or already possess First Aid and CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of professional nanny or childcare experience.
- Education or coursework in Early Childhood Education, child development, or a related field.
- Strong positive references from previous childcare roles.
