Job Description
Are you passionate about retail and eager to learn the ins and outs of product selection and placement? Jewel-Osco is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Buyer & Merchandiser Intern to join our dynamic team at our Evanston Retail Headquarters. This is an unparalleled opportunity for an entry-level individual to gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of grocery merchandising and buying. You will work closely with experienced buyers and merchandisers, contributing to product strategy, vendor relations, and market analysis. Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior buyers with vendor communication, purchase order creation, and inventory management.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify new product trends and opportunities.
- Support the merchandising team in developing planograms and promotional strategies for various product categories.
- Analyze sales data and performance metrics to provide insights and support decision-making.
- Participate in product meetings, presentations, and sample evaluations.
- Collaborate with marketing and supply chain teams to ensure product availability and effective promotions.
- Perform administrative tasks to support the buying and merchandising departments.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- A keen interest in the retail industry and consumer trends.

Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Retail Merchandising, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Previous retail experience (e.g., sales associate, stocker) is a plus but not required.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
