Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Council Tip Attendant to join our Waste Management team in Alice Springs. This is an essential role ensuring the smooth and safe operation of our local waste disposal facility. You will be the first point of contact for the public, assisting with waste sorting, providing guidance, and maintaining a clean and orderly site. Full training will be provided for suitable candidates who demonstrate a strong work ethic and commitment to community service and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist members of the public visiting the waste management site, providing directions and information on waste segregation and disposal procedures.
- Monitor waste intake, ensuring appropriate materials are deposited in designated areas and preventing illegal dumping.
- Operate basic site equipment (e.g., compactors, cleaning machinery) as required, following safety guidelines.
- Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the waste management facility, including litter picking and basic maintenance tasks.
- Identify and report any hazards, equipment malfunctions, or environmental concerns to supervisors.
- Enforce site rules and regulations to ensure the safety of all visitors and staff.
- Assist with traffic management on site to ensure a safe and efficient flow of vehicles.
- Complete basic administrative tasks, such as recording waste volumes or reporting incidents.
Required Skills
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong verbal communication and customer service skills.
- A positive attitude and willingness to assist the public.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
- Physical fitness to perform tasks involving lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a waste management or similar outdoor service role.
- A current Australian Driver's License (Class C or higher).
- Basic knowledge of waste segregation principles.
- First Aid certification.
