Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Traffic Cone Setup Helper to join our highway maintenance support team in Richmond Hill, Ontario. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in infrastructure and road maintenance. As a Traffic Cone Setup Helper, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of our work crews and the traveling public by properly setting up and maintaining traffic control devices around active construction and maintenance sites. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal position for someone with no prior experience but a strong work ethic and commitment to safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the safe and efficient setup, removal, and maintenance of traffic control devices, primarily traffic cones and barricades, according to established safety plans and supervisor instructions.
  • Monitor traffic flow and the integrity of traffic control setups, reporting any issues or changes to the crew leader immediately.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure coordinated and safe operations on site.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including company vehicles and equipment.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and relevant provincial regulations.
  • Perform other general labor duties as assigned to support highway maintenance operations.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions, including lifting and carrying traffic cones.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the job site in Richmond Hill.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from supervisors.
  • Basic communication skills.
  • Punctuality and reliability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid G-class driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Basic understanding of road safety principles (training will be provided).
  • First Aid/CPR certification (asset, not required).
  • Experience working in an outdoor or construction environment (not required, but a plus).
