Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Electrical Engineering Intern with a focus on Power Systems to join our dynamic team in Canning Vale. This is an exceptional entry-level opportunity for a university student to gain practical, hands-on experience in the critical infrastructure of power generation, transmission, and distribution. You will work alongside experienced engineers on real-world projects, contributing to the stability, efficiency, and innovation of Western Australia’s electricity network. Full training and mentorship will be provided, making this an ideal role for someone eager to launch their career in power systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data related to network performance and reliability.
- Support senior engineers in the design, planning, and optimization of power distribution systems and infrastructure.
- Participate in project meetings, contributing to discussions and documentation.
- Conduct research on emerging power technologies, renewable energy integration, and grid modernization.
- Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and other project documentation.
- Learn and apply relevant industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Gain exposure to various aspects of power system operations, maintenance, and asset management.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Strong foundational understanding of electrical engineering principles.
- Eagerness to learn and develop practical skills in power systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completed coursework or projects specifically related to power systems, power electronics, or renewable energy.
- Familiarity with simulation software (e.g., PSCAD, ETAP, PowerFactory) is a plus.
- Previous involvement in engineering clubs, societies, or personal projects.
