Job Description
Are you a passionate gamer with a burning desire to create your own worlds? Prairie Pixel Studios is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Game Design & Development Intern to join our team in Portage la Prairie. This is an unparalleled opportunity for individuals with little to no prior professional experience to dive headfirst into the exciting world of indie game development. You’ll work alongside experienced developers, learning the ropes of game design principles, development pipelines, and studio operations. We’re looking for someone eager to learn, contribute creative ideas, and grow within a supportive environment. Full training and mentorship will be provided, setting you on a path to a potential career in the gaming industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in brainstorming and conceptualizing new game features and mechanics.
- Help with the integration of game assets (art, audio, animations) into game engines.
- Participate in playtesting sessions and provide constructive feedback for game improvements.
- Support the creation and maintenance of game design documents and technical specifications.
- Learn and apply fundamental principles of game design, level design, and user experience.
- Collaborate with the development team on various tasks to gain hands-on experience across the game development lifecycle.
Required Skills
- Strong passion for video games and an understanding of different game genres.
- Eagerness to learn new software, tools, and development methodologies.
- Basic computer literacy and familiarity with common office software.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
