Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Hotel Porter / Bellhop to join our dedicated team. In this vital front-line role, you will be the first point of contact for many of our guests, setting the tone for their entire stay. You will assist guests with luggage, provide information about the hotel and local area, and ensure their needs are met with efficiency and a friendly demeanor. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to handle physical tasks with a smile.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet guests upon arrival and assist with luggage handling, ensuring a smooth check-in process.
- Escort guests to their rooms, providing an overview of hotel amenities and room features.
- Assist guests with luggage upon departure, ensuring timely and efficient service.
- Provide information and recommendations regarding local attractions, dining, and hotel services.
- Deliver newspapers, packages, and other items to guest rooms as required.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the lobby, entrance, and luggage storage areas.
- Assist with valet parking services when needed, ensuring vehicle security and guest convenience.
- Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests, escalating issues to management when necessary.
- Support other hotel departments as required, contributing to a cohesive team environment.
Required Skills
- Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with guests and colleagues.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift and carry luggage (up to 25kg) and stand for extended periods.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
- Professional presentation and a positive, helpful attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a hotel, customer service, or hospitality role.
- Knowledge of the Lismore area and local attractions.
- Valid driver's license (for potential valet duties).
