Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher to join our supportive faculty at Riverside Preparatory School. This full-time, on-site position is designed for an experienced educator committed to making a profound impact on students with diverse learning needs. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), providing tailored instruction, and collaborating with parents, colleagues, and external specialists to ensure comprehensive support for our students. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with SEN, monitoring progress and adjusting plans as necessary.
- Provide differentiated instruction and specialized support in both pull-out and inclusive classroom settings.
- Conduct assessments to identify student needs, track progress, and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and strategies for home support.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student performance and educational plans.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.
- Advocate for students with special educational needs, ensuring their rights and needs are met.
- Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to support student well-being and academic success.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification/license in Special Education (or eligibility for certification in Michigan).
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) of experience teaching students with diverse special educational needs.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and monitor IEPs.
- Strong understanding of various learning disabilities, behavioral challenges, and intervention strategies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in assessment and data-driven instruction.
- Eligibility for a Skilled Worker Visa to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Experience with specific special education methodologies (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, ABA).
- Familiarity with Michigan's special education laws and regulations.
- Experience working in an independent or private school setting.
- Fluency in multiple languages.
