Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Trainee Port Authority Operations Assistant. This is an entry-level position designed for someone eager to learn the intricate operations of a busy harbour. No prior experience in port operations is required, as comprehensive training will be provided. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of experienced professionals, assisting with daily operational tasks, maintaining safety standards, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the harbour. This role involves shift work, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the 24/7 nature of port operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the monitoring and control of vessel movements within the harbour under supervision.
- Learn and apply port safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Conduct routine checks of harbour facilities, identifying and reporting any issues.
- Support administrative tasks related to vessel berthing, billing, and record-keeping.
- Operate and maintain basic port equipment as trained.
- Communicate effectively with vessel captains, tenants, and other harbour users.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Respond to and assist with minor incidents or inquiries on-site.
