Job Description

We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Bilingual Telephonic Interpreters to join our remote team. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to work from the comfort of your home anywhere in Markham, Ontario. As a Telephonic Interpreter, you will provide accurate and impartial interpretation services between English and another designated language for a variety of critical communications, primarily in healthcare, legal, and government sectors. You will facilitate understanding between parties who speak different languages, ensuring clear and effective communication without adding, omitting, or distorting meaning. Comprehensive training on telephonic interpretation protocols and industry-specific terminology will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for passionate bilingual individuals eager to start a career in language services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate, impartial, and confidential interpretation services over the phone, primarily between English and your designated second language.
  • Render message meaning accurately, completely, and to the best of your ability, without adding, omitting, or distorting anything.
  • Adhere strictly to ethical codes of conduct and client-specific protocols, including maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Manage call flow efficiently, ensuring smooth communication between all parties.
  • Maintain a professional and customer-focused demeanor at all times.
  • Continuously develop linguistic skills and subject matter knowledge through provided training and self-study.
  • Utilize our proprietary interpretation platform and other communication tools effectively.
  • Be available for scheduled shifts and demonstrate reliability in attendance.

Required Skills

  • Native-level fluency in English and at least one other language (e.g., Mandarin, Spanish, French, Punjabi) – both verbal and written.
  • Exceptional listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
  • Strong ability to concentrate for extended periods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High degree of professionalism and integrity.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications and reliable high-speed internet access.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older and legally authorized to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer service, call center, or language-related role.
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent professional training.
  • Familiarity with medical, legal, or technical terminology.
  • Certification in interpretation (e.g., CTTIC, IMIA, NBCMI) is an asset but not required for entry-level.
  • Experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds.
