Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Stable Manager to oversee the daily operations of our prominent equine facility. The Stable Manager will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of animal care, managing stable staff, coordinating facility maintenance, and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. This leadership role requires a deep understanding of equine health and behavior, strong organizational skills, and the ability to effectively manage a team to achieve operational excellence and uphold the stud’s esteemed reputation.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily stable operations, including feeding, grooming, turnout, and mucking.
- Manage, train, and schedule stable staff, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to protocols.
- Monitor the health and well-being of all horses, liaising with veterinarians and farriers as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of horse health, feed, treatments, and movements.
- Ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper maintenance of all stable facilities, equipment, and grounds.
- Implement and enforce stable rules, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
- Manage inventory of feed, bedding, and stable supplies, overseeing procurement.
- Coordinate with trainers, riders, and other departments to ensure seamless operations.
- Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that may arise within the stable environment.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated experience in stable management or a similar leadership role within the equine industry.
- Profound knowledge of horse care, nutrition, health, and behavior.
- Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with stable work.
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Equine Management or a related field.
- Experience with specific breeding programs or high-performance horses.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Proficiency with stable management software.
