Job Description
Hydro-Québec is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as Smart Grid Installation Assistants in Baie-Comeau. This entry-level position offers comprehensive paid training for individuals looking to start a rewarding career in the rapidly evolving tech trade of smart grid technology. You will play a crucial role in deploying advanced metering infrastructure and other smart grid components, helping to build a more resilient and efficient energy network for Quebec. No prior experience is necessary; we provide all the tools and knowledge you need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in comprehensive paid training programs to learn about smart grid technology, safety protocols, and installation techniques.
- Assist lead technicians with the installation, maintenance, and testing of smart meters and other grid-modernization equipment.
- Prepare work sites, including setting up equipment, ensuring safety, and organizing materials.
- Perform basic wiring, connection, and testing of smart devices under supervision.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Document work performed and report any issues encountered during installations.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
- Provide support for troubleshooting and system commissioning as directed.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A strong desire to learn and develop skills in a technical trade.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort with hand tools.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in any manual labor, construction, or technical field.
- Familiarity with basic electrical concepts or electronics.
