Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Commercial Farm Manager to oversee the daily operations, planning, and strategic development of our commercial farm located in New Braunfels, Texas. This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient and profitable production of crops, implementing advanced agricultural practices, and leading a dedicated farm team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of farm operations, including planting, cultivation, harvesting, pest management, soil health, and resource optimization. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all day-to-day farming operations, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
- Develop and implement comprehensive crop plans, including variety selection, planting schedules, fertilization, and irrigation programs.
- Manage farm budgets, financial reporting, and inventory control for seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and equipment.
- Lead, train, and supervise farm staff, promoting a safe and productive work environment.
- Implement and monitor integrated pest management (IPM) strategies and sustainable farming practices.
- Maintain farm equipment and machinery, coordinating repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with all agricultural regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Analyze crop performance data, identify areas for improvement, and implement innovative solutions.
- Collaborate with agricultural researchers, agronomists, and sales teams to optimize yields and product quality.
- Prepare detailed reports on farm activities, production outputs, and financial performance.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in commercial farm management.
- Strong knowledge of crop production cycles, soil science, and plant nutrition.
- Proficiency in farm machinery operation and maintenance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage budgets and financial aspects of farm operations.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Familiarity with agricultural software and data analysis tools.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Agricultural Science, or a related field.
- Certifications in pesticide application or advanced crop management.
- Experience with precision agriculture technologies (GPS, drones, sensors).
- Fluency in Spanish or other relevant languages.
- Prior experience working with international teams or in diverse agricultural environments.
