Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Livestock Transport Offsider to join our dynamic team. This entry-level role is perfect for individuals eager to start a career in the transport and agricultural sectors. As an Offsider, you will work closely with our experienced drivers, assisting with all aspects of livestock transportation across regional Queensland. Full training will be provided, ensuring you gain the skills and knowledge needed to excel. This role involves significant regional travel, and we ensure your meals are covered while on the road. Key Responsibilities
- Assist drivers with the loading and unloading of various types of livestock, ensuring safe and humane handling practices.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip checks on vehicles and trailers, reporting any defects or maintenance needs.
- Monitor livestock welfare during transit, providing water and comfort as required.
- Assist with route navigation and communication as directed by the driver.
- Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle cabin and livestock compartments.
- Comply with all road transport regulations, animal welfare codes, and company policies.
- Support the driver in all operational tasks during regional trips.
- Learn and apply best practices for animal husbandry and transport safety.
Required Skills
- Valid Australian Driver's License (Car Class minimum)
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and manual handling
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Commitment to animal welfare and safety
- Availability for regional travel and overnight stays as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a physically demanding role or outdoor work
- Basic knowledge of livestock or agricultural environments
- First Aid certification
- White Card (Construction Induction)
