Job Description

Waste Management in Bradenton, FL is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as a Sanitation Truck Driver Trainee. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity where we will provide comprehensive, paid training and support for you to obtain your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL/HGV). No prior experience operating a heavy vehicle is required – we are looking for dedicated individuals eager to learn and committed to safety. As a trainee, you will learn the ins and outs of residential and commercial waste collection, route management, vehicle operation, and safety protocols under the guidance of experienced professionals. Upon successful completion of training and CDL acquisition, you will transition into a full-time Sanitation Truck Driver role, playing a vital role in keeping our community clean and sustainable.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively participate in paid training programs to acquire knowledge of waste collection operations and safety procedures.
- Learn to safely operate sanitation vehicles, including pre-trip and post-trip inspections, during training sessions.
- Understand and adhere to all local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
- Assist experienced drivers with route navigation and service procedures.
- Develop proficiency in collecting and transporting various types of waste materials.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment and vehicle.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
- Demonstrate a commitment to safety at all times.
Required Skills
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Possess a valid standard driver's license with a clean driving record (no CDL required to start).
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and DOT physical.
- Commitment to learning and adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Physical ability to perform tasks associated with sanitation work, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Eagerness to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) through our paid training program.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Prior experience in a physically demanding role.
